Dillian Whyte fumes with ‘no offer’ coming for Anthony Joshua fight and labels rival a ‘coward’

Dillian Whyte has revealed that “no serious talks” have taken place with Anthony Joshua’s team despite the pair expected to fight this year.

Whyte made his comeback to boxing at the end of November as he beat American heavyweight Jermaine Franklin via majority decision. His rival was previously unbeaten as a professional.

The Brit has returned to fight under the Matchroom Boxing/DAZN umbrella with the view to him battling Joshua in a rematch this year.

Joshua is due to fight on April 1 against Franklin, while Whyte could face Otto Wallin within a few weeks of that bout on a separate card.

If both fighters win, it is hoped that Joshua and Whyte will face off in the summer in a huge rematch in a stadium in the UK.

This is far from a done deal though, with Whyte confirming that he has had "no offer" from Eddie Hearn about the fight.

"AJ's doing what he wants to do. Listen, if he really wants to fight me it's not very hard to make," Whyte told Sportsmail.
"It's 1-1 and I've been chasing that fight for the last seven years. I don't understand why we can't get the fight on.
"Eddie has talked a lot about the fight, but they couldn't commit to actually making it. Waste of time talking about it! We've had no offer for that fight or serious talks. It's very frustrating."

Whyte later hit out at Deontay Wilder and bemoaned that the best fighters do not face each other.

"I win and then there's no conversation about the AJ fight or nothing," Whyte added.
"So obviously I'm not gonna sit around and wait and be used as a scapegoat like they did to me a couple of years ago.
"We are just looking to see what's next and who's next. I've had enough of waiting around.
"I waited years and years as No 1 contender to fight that coward, fraud [Deontay] Wilder who avoided me and apparently is still scared to fight me which is pathetic.
"That is the problem with boxing. Everyone should have to fight each other like in UFC."
