Coronavirus news: Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in self-isolation

Unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has gone into self-isolation amid fears over the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2012 gold-medalist is following the government's advice after Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19.

The Prince of Wales contracted the virus yesterday, which has led to fears over the health of Joshua, who was in contact with the heir to the throne just two weeks ago.

‘AJ’ was invited to Westminster Abbey for Commonwealth Day Service to speak about the significance of the event alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson. An update has been given on the health of Joshua.

A spokesman for Joshua said: "AJ is at home following government guidelines, he is fit and well.
"He wishes everyone affected a speedy recovery and a huge thank you to all the front-line key workers."
The British heavyweight superstar is currently preparing to take on Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20.

However, promoter Eddie Hearn revealed the bout could be rescheduled to July 25 due to Premier League fixtures being moved.

On March 18, Hearn told Sky Sports: "A requirement for Anthony in his next fight, a necessity for him was to box in the UK," said Hearn.
"June 20 is a long time away, it's still in our plans. We have been speaking to Tottenham and making sure that we're all on the same page.

"We know we have the same strategy moving forward. Obviously the Premier League decision will play a big part in a number of sports. Plans to put new dates in place and that fight as well.
"We also have Dillian Whyte due to fight Povetkin on May 2. We have Derek Chisora due to fight Oleksandr Usyk on May 23. Anthony Joshua, June 20, and all of those events are subject to change right now.
"We hope that they won't need to be moved, but we also understand this is constantly evolving.
"For the Anthony Joshua fight, already potential plans to move that fight back to July. We do have a potential date for that, but right now, hoping June 20 can remain the date."
