Coronavirus: Amir Khan offers £5 million wedding venue to help the NHS

Amir Khan is the latest boxing superstar to help the world fight the current coronavirus epidemic.

‘King’ Khan announced on social media about his intentions to help the NHS cope with the rising cases in the UK by offering his future wedding hall building as a place for patients.
He said: “I am aware of how difficult it is for the public to get a hospital bed in this tragic time. I am prepared to give my 60,000 square foot 4 story building which is due to be a wedding hall and retail outlet to the NHS to help people affected by the coronavirus. Please keep safe.”
The £5 million facility was set to launch for business in August but in typical Khan style, he wants to help as many people as possible.

Khan is no stranger to charity work, either. The former two-time world champion helps people all over the world, especially in Pakistan through the Amir Khan Foundation - it’s a charity which is dedicated in supporting disadvantaged people and improves the environment and area they are living in.

He follows Manny Pacquiao after the senator confirmed he will take a 12 month break from boxing in a bid to defeat the virus in the Philippines.

‘Pacman’ has donated 600,000 masks to protect those on the front-line as well as contributing towards testing kits and equipment for nurses.
Speaking about his role in a country which has had over 400 cases of COVID-19, Pacquiao said: “If you are a leader, you have to be a front-liner.
“You have to lead people and let people see that you are with them. I grew up poor. I know what they feel.”
