  • Caroline Dubois ‘Only Spars Men’ Admits Shane McGuigan Ahead Of York Hall Clash

Caroline Dubois ‘only spars men’ admits Shane McGuigan ahead of York Hall clash

Caroline Dubois will take on a former world title challenger in her latest outing as she looks to maintain her unbeaten status.

Trainer Shane McGuigan revealed he can't get female fighters to spar with hard-hitting Caroline Dubois.

The 22-year-old returns to the ring on June 16 against Yanina del Carmen Lescano at York Hall.

Dubois, who is a 2018 Youth Olympic gold medalist, boasts an unbeaten 6-0 professional record.

The sister of heavyweight prospect Daniel Dubois has won her last five fights by way of TKO.

McGuigan believes Dubois can become one of the biggest stars in the sport in a very short space of time.

In an interview with Seconds Out, he said: "Honestly, I think she's going to be one of the best female fighters on the planet in the next 12 months. She's there now, in my opinion.

"She only spars men now. She doesn't spar any girls. We can't get any girls to come and do any rounds with her.

"She punches extremely hard. She's calm under pressure now, whereas a lot of time she used to panic. Not panic as in scared. The amateur system is hit and not get hit, do everything in your power not to even give one shot off.

"In the professional game, you've got to be a little bit calmer. You've got to give maybe one or two - just don't get hit with a big shot.
"The last year and a half that she's been in the gym, maybe longer. It's coming up to two years.
"[She is] getting accustomed to being in that punching range and getting switched on there. Just settle your breathing down there, get comfortable.
"Over this whole time, she just got better and better all the time. I genuinely think she's the most improved fighter in the gym, for sure."
Dubois defeated Feriche Mashaury inside three rounds at Wembley Arena back in February.
The former World Youth and European Youth champion will be looking to put on a similar clinic when she returns to the ring in June.
However, the fight against Lescano is expected to be her toughest challenge so far. The Argentine was just one scorecard away from becoming IBO World Lightweight Champion last year, losing against 2016 Olympic gold medallist Estelle Mossely by way of a split-decision
