  • Anthony Joshua Urged To Fight Daniel Dubois Next As Deontay Wilder Bout ‘Isn’T Going To Happen’

Anthony Joshua urged to fight Daniel Dubois next as Deontay Wilder bout ‘isn’t going to happen’

Anthony Joshua has been urged to face fellow Brit Daniel Dubois next as this bout “would sell out anywhere”.

Queensberry Promotions chief Frank Warren thinks Anthony Joshua should fight Daniel Dubois next.

Joshua has fought twice following a damaging second defeat at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk last year.

The Brit beat Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius in decisive fashion and it has been hoped that he will face Deontay Wilder in a dream fight at the end of this year or the start of 2024.

This bout was planned for Saudi Arabia but with the Middle East nation turning their attention to Tyson Fury vs Usyk, Joshua vs Wilder looks to be off the table for now.

And with that, Warren has called on Joshua to face Dubois in his next fight.

Dubois is coming off a loss as he was beaten by Usyk last time out in Poland. Warren thinks Joshua vs Dubois “would be a good fight in the UK”.

"The Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua situation, I know their people had conversations and thought that it would happen, but I never thought it would happen, and it's not," Warren told IFL TV.

"The problem is, the amount of money they felt they were going to get paid or they heard they were going to get paid, they're not going to achieve that anywhere. That's not going to happen.

“What we're hearing from Matchroom is every other week or every two weeks, they were going to announce it. We are now hitting mid-September. It ain't going to happen.

"I'll tell you a good fight if that doesn't happen. You know what would be a good fight in the UK and people would buy tickets to watch it and we'll see who is the biggest puncher and who has got the biggest heart? Him [Joshua] and Daniel Dubois.

“That would sell out anywhere. Before you start your hate, that would determine who has got the biggest heart, who would grit their teeth. You can't say it's not going to sell. It would sell. It's a big fight."

Joshua vs Fury continues to be a dream fight, with it hoped that they will finally face off at some point over the next year or so.

Interestingly, YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI has backed Joshua to produce a “spiteful” performance if he faces Fury.

"There is a lot of bad blood with that," KSI told Misfits Boxing.

"Honestly I think that fight would bring out the scary, evil AJ who is just spiteful. He'd come in like 'Finally, I get to put my hands on you' and just annihilate, dominate.

“I think it would be a good fight, Fury would try and do his thing, keep him at range to try and press him but I see AJ edging it.”
