Amir Khan has revealed he has the opportunity of challenging Errol Spence Jr. for the WBC and IBF welterweight titles.
‘King’ Khan was speaking to Laura Woods on her first day as the new host of the breakfast show on talkSPORT, replacing Alan Brazil three days a week.
The 32-year-old spoke about his rise up the rankings before revealing talks with Eddie Hearn about a potential showdown with arch-rival Kell Brook.
He said: “There’s so many names out there now. I’ve been pushed up the WBC rankings [and] been told I can take the Errol Spence fight, [I’ve] been asked to fight in Saudi Arabia because they were happy with how it went when I last fought there,” he said.
Speaking about Brook negotiations, he added: “Yeah I mean there’s still talks about that fight. We should know once it all clears up. It has to make financial sense.”
Khan is one of the UK’s most decorated fighters of the last two decades. Britain’s youngest Olympic medalist has gone on to achieve huge things in the sport, which includes two world titles and big success across the Atlantic with Freddie Roach and Virgil Hunter in his corner.
Paulie Malignaggi, Marcos Maidana and Devon Alexander are some of his most impressive wins in a career that turned professional in 2005.
While Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are both out of the equation in 2020, Brook is still available although he may have to move quickly if he wants the Sheffield star with Brook confirming talks with Terence Crawford over a UK showdown.
