Ex-world champion Amir Khan is working on the finer details ahead of his latest boxing comeback.

The British legend fought twice last year and got back to winning ways with late replacement Billy Dib in Saudi Arabia.

His first fight of 2019 ended in defeat to the hands of Pound for Pound superstar Terence Crawford at Madison Square Garden. The contest ended in the sixth-round with Khan unable to continue fighting after a heavy punch landing below the belt.

The 2004 Olympian is plotting to return after Ramadan with a number of promoters interested in securing Khan’s signature.

“I’m doing a bit of training, ticking over and keeping busy and things like that,” Khan told The Bolton News.
"Hopefully I’ll announce something for after Ramadan. I want to spend time with my new baby and I’m going to see where it goes from there.

“There’s so many big names out there that I can still fight. I can still headline here (UK), Saudi Arabia, America, they are all options. I’m the WBC International champion so maybe I could fight for the WBC title or go for another title, I am ranked quite highly in the other rankings. I’m in a good position really. I’m in talks with a couple of promoters and I’ve got options.

The only fight UK fans are interested in is against long-time rival Kell Brook. The pair have been linked to fighting each other for the best part of a decade now, with egos, weight and money getting in the way.

Brook, who fought at 154-pounds in his most recent fight against Mark DeLuca, has revealed he’s willing to go down to welterweight if the right fight presents itself. The Sheffield star could even follow in the footsteps of Khan by facing Crawford next after being spotted together at a boxing event in the UK.

However, ‘King’ Khan has insisted the Brook fight could still happen before he hangs his gloves up.
“The Kell Brook fight is still there. We’re just working it out. He’s up at 154 but I’m 147. We were getting a contract sorted out and talking to Eddie about doing it at 147 and I found out he’d gone up to 154 and that messed everything up.

“I made that mistake (moving up in weight) when I took the Canelo fight. I’m a 147 fighter and I don’t want to go up to any more. I make the weight quite easily.”

Manny Pacquiao is another fighter that has been on the radar of Khan’s for some time.

Former sparring partners at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym, the pair have been close to fighting on many occassions, including in 2019 where Khan held a press conference to tell the press that they had agreed a mega-fight in Saudi Arabia.

The former unified super-lightweight champion later apologised, revealing he had been ‘misinformed’.
Whichever route he goes down, Boxing365 looks forward to seeing the last roll of the dice.
