Who are Betfair?
British gambling business Betfair formed in 2000, but moved some of their operations to Gibraltar to reduce their tax payments.
In 2016 they merged with Paddy Power to create Flutter Entertainment, who are one of the world’s biggest online betting companies.
Top jockeys Rachael Blackmore and Ryan Moore are Betfair ambassadors, while champion trainer Paul Nicholls provides his Ditcheat Diary.
Former England striker Alan Shearer is their face of football coverage.
Betfair has around four million customers making them one of the biggest betting companies.
Why bet with Betfair?
Betfair has all the usual betting offerings that you’d expect, a sportsbook, gaming, casino, bingo, slots etc etc. but where it’s a little different from the other mainstream bookies is with its exchange, which allows customers to bet against each other.
It’s great for traders and those wishing to lay the odds - betting on something not to happen.
It is modelled on the stock exchange but instead with sport, politics and entertainment betting odds.
Traditionally bookies offer a fixed price, but the Betfair Exchange allows a customer to get hold of a better price than what they’ve been offered - if accepted by another customer.
Exchanges are not a unique Betfair product, they do have competition, but their rivals won’t have the deepest marketing pockets and so it’s easy to see why they are the market leaders
What are the best features on Betfair?
One-stop shop
Having started out as an exchange before adding the sportsbook in 2012, Betfair really is the place to go for the regular bettor who likes to dabble in placing bets and laying the odds.
You can switch between the two fairly seamlessly and there are offers and bonuses in both the sportsbook and exchange. Using both will open up further rewards.
Great odds and markets
Betfair offers very competitive odds especially across football, horse racing, baseball, basketball and tennis.
But it’s in the exchange where you can pick up some much bigger odds than you’ll find with the old boys of the betting world.
Betfair have a great range of sports with plenty of depth to their markets. Chess is not an area you’ll find on most bookmakers’ sites, but Betfair covers it.
Great mobile site
Betfair is a clean site without being flashy, it does what it says on the tin. However, they’ve clearly invested the time and energy in the mobile app and are constantly making improvements.
There’s lots of offers and promotions and it makes it easy for the user to quickly make selections and place bets.
Extensive content and tipping service
Betfair have also invested in helping out their bettors by providing a range of tipping articles, video and podcasts.
They have a slew of experienced tipsters providing regular content that can hopefully help the punters net some big wins.
Rather than being tucked away as an afterthought it’s easy to find and their experienced content team are across the major sports providing everything from singles, doubles, bet builders and accas.
