NBA playoff preview and tips: Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State Warriors - Game Five

Golden State Warriors have their backs against the wall as they trail the Los Angeles Lakers 3-1 ahead of game five at Chase Center.

Steph Curry and his Golden State Warriors will need to come out fighting at Chase Center on Wednesday night, and it seems improbable they'll allow the Lakers to coast to a 4-1 win.

Lakers @ Warriors - Game Five verdict

The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers played out a wild one in game four. Despite being low-scoring, LA's 104-101 win was the game of the series so far.
Each team had picked up a blowout win before this meeting, with all three games in the series featuring at least 120 points. Game four saw the defence come out on top as neither side excelled from beyond the arc.
The game was back and forth with the teams combining to force 30 turnovers and 17 steals. Anthony Davis closed guarded Curry on multiple occasions, only for Steph to hit ridiculous shots and keep his side in touch.
The Warriors did lead by as many as 12 points late in the third quarter, but the Lakers found an unlikely hero in the form of Lonnie Walker IV.
Walker was scoreless through the first three quarters, but he came up with 15 of the Lakers' 27 points in the fourth quarter, as they held the Warriors to just 17 to win by three.

We expect a much higher-scoring affair as the series heads back to the Chase Center in San Francisco, where Golden State has averaged 119 points per game and posted a record of 36-10. The Warriors are a -7.5 favourite with SX.bet.

As mentioned in our Heat at Knicks game five preview, teams leading the series 3-1 have gone on to win 264 of 277 series, so the odds are stacked against the Warriors here.
However, we also mentioned that sides with home-court advantage trailing 3-1 ahead of game five have fared quite well.

The Warriors will not let this one go without a fight, so don't be surprised when Steph Curry does ridiculous things and posts a 30-point double-double on Wednesday. We expect the Warriors to win game five and cover the spread.
