Knicks @ Nets tips and picks: Back Brooklyn to bounce back against cross-city rivals

The Brooklyn Nets (17-25) welcome the New York Knicks (26-17) to the Barclays Center as the pair renew rivalries in the NBA on Tuesday (0030 GMT Weds).

Tuesday offers us a chance to get a look at two classic NBA rivalries as the New York Knicks visit the Brooklyn Nets before later, the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers clash.

Suggested bets

Brooklyn Nets +4.5

Knicks @ Nets preview

The Knicks ran out 121-104 winners when the sides met on December 20 and from Brooklyn’s point of view, you don’t forget losses like that against a rival.

They’ll be eager to bounce back tonight but they’ve struggled ATS lately and imploded in their last outing.

They thoroughly outplayed the Clippers in LA for 42 minutes which is extremely impressive. Then, they failed to score a single point in the final 5 minutes and 33 seconds.

The Nets had led by more than 20 points and were up 114-103 at that point before not only losing but losing by 11 to blow the +10 spread.

The Knicks have made some big moves in the trade market recently, acquiring OG Anunoby and they’ve won their last three matches.

Jalen Brunson has seen some increased use and is scoring as a result, because the Knicks are lacking some depth and need another top scorer.

New York find themselves in a fifth game in eight days situation here, whereas Brooklyn have played four times in the past 12 days due to NBA Paris.

The rest seems to have benefited this team as they knocked off the Lakers, and lost by one to the Heat and although they lost 105-103 in Portland, they were largely better than the Clippers.

They played with great energy in that game and all signs point towards Brooklyn becoming a more competitive team again, especially against the spread.

Public opinion is pretty low on them at the moment but they were one of the best ATS bets to start the season and were often overlooked and disrespected by the bookies.

Mikal Bridges, Cam Thomas, Spencer Dinwiddie and Nic Claxton all showed the best version of themselves in that game and should be able to build on it.

There shouldn’t be any hangover from the loss and we expected them to be highly motivated to not just bounce back from that but to get some revenge on their rivals.
