Best tips and picks for Tuesday’s NBA acca: Magic shut down Thunder, Pistons continue ATS roll

There's five games in the NBA on Tuesday night but there's still ample opportunity as we continue to focus on the underdogs.

Tuesday night’s NBA acca focuses on the Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat and Orlando Magic in the role of underdog.

Tonight’s effort is priced at 3/1 at the time of writing.

Tuesday’s NBA acca

Detroit Pistons +14.5

Miami Heat +12.5

Orlando Magic +5.5

Detroit Pistons @ LA Lakers (03:30 GMT Wednesday)

The Detroit Pistons are 12-2 ATS in their last 14 contests. They’ve found an identity in their place and offence, and it’s hard to bet against them right now.

They’ve covered against some good teams as double-digit underdogs lately, including the NBA’s hottest team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Thunder and the Clippers.

The Lakers are in good shape and this is probably a good matchup for them, as LeBron James and Anthony Davis will do whatever they want in the paint.

However, we regularly see the Lakers drop the ball when it comes to big numbers. They’re 17-37 ATS as a home favourite of 11 or more.

In addition, they’re 17-35 ATS after scoring 125+ points and fit two systems here. Firstly, teams favoured by 10+ points in non-conference matchups are 64-96 ATS across the last two seasons, failing to cover 60% of the team.

Also, teams who won their previous game and scored 135+ are on a 127-160 ATS run as they’re often overvalued after a big win.

Miami Heat @ Milwaukee Bucks (01:00 GMT Wednesday)

On Monday night, all seven teams favoured by five or more points dropped the ball and there were several outright wins.

The Bucks played a huge game against the Nuggets just last night and beat them by 15 despite being an underdog, so they won’t be at full tilt here.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard may or may not feature, but even with them, the Bucks still aren’t at their best under Doc Rivers and could suffer a letdown here.

The Heat lost to the Celtics by a close margin last time out despite missing Jimmy Butler and being a +7.5 underdog on home court.

They have more than enough physicality and defence to keep this one within single digits, so we’ll take the extended line of +12.5.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Orlando Magic (00:30 GMT Wednesday)

Last but not least, the Orlando Magic host the Oklahoma City Thunder. These teams are trending in the opposite direction right now and Orlando may well win outright.

The Thunder seem to have hit their ceiling and haven’t been living up to the lofty expectations of the oddsmakers, going 4-6 ATS through their last 10.

The defence has deserted them as they’ve lost their last three on the road, failed to cover, and allowed 130 points per game.

Orlando are fully healthy and look to be back on track after suffering a similar fate. They’re 7-3 ATS in their last 10 contests.

Orlando hold a decisive defensive edge in this one as the Magic are allowing 108 points per game at home and that number has improved to 107ppg across their last six home and away.
