Lebron James in 'communication' with Team USA as star ponders Paris Olympics; USA to play in London

The USA men’s basketball team will take on South Sudan and Germany at London’s O2 Arena next July in what could be two star-studded friendlies ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Los Angeles Lakers’ Lebron James, the leading scorer in NBA history, has stated his interest in returning to Team USA and recruiting some of the league’s top talent to join him.

The trip will mark the US men’s first visit to the British capital since winning the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, and Tuesday’s announcement included the placement of a giant USA jersey and basketball on top of the London venue.

James, who was part of that championship and also won gold with Team USA at the 2008 Games in Beijing, previously told ESPN: “I do have a lot of interest in playing in Paris, I have a history of playing with Team USA, and we have a lot of great players here in America. We’ve been in communication.”

The two-game series is set to take place on July 20 and 22.
