NBA preview and tips: Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers

The Wells Fargo Center is the backdrop for the standout game in the NBA on Tuesday, as the Philadelphia 76ers (51-27) host another elite winning team in the shape of the Boston Celtics (54-24).

Both sides are putting the finishing touches on a fantastic season, and both are getting healthier at just the right time.

But despite the 76ers having a full complement of players available, it's the Celtics who have been making a statement.
Their 122-114 win over Utah was to be expected, and in truth, they threw up a big number and took it easy on defence.
But the 140-99 mauling of Milwaukee just before that remains, arguably, the most stunning result of the NBA season. To hold an elite title contender to less than 100, whilst simultaneously putting up such a big number, is scary.

It was the third time in four games Boston have scored 120+ whilst holding their opponent to less than 100.

Suggested bet: Boston Celtics +1

It's been a regular occurrence on their home court, and whilst their road form hasn't always been perfect, they've upped their level against winning teams.
Boston are 35-16-1 ATS in their last 52 road games against a team winning 60% or better of their home games. It's a challenge they seem to relish, and one to which they've consistently risen.
The 76ers had their own chance to shine against the 2021 NBA Champion Bucks last time out, but they failed to cover the +5 spread and never looked likely in a 117-104 reversal.
It was their fourth straight loss to an elite team positioned in the playoffs, all of which have come in their last six games.
Boston have made quite the habit of beating up on the 76ers over the past 12 months. They've won four straight meetings, including a 110-107 victory here in February, and their previous visit in 2022 saw them run out 135-87 victors.

Standout ATS Trends

  • 76ers are 0-4 ATS against a road team winning 60% of games
  • Under is 8-1 when the 76ers play on one day of rest
  • Celtics are 35-16-1 against a home team winning 60% of games
  • Under is 5-1 when the Celtics are an underdog of 0.5-4.5

Team News

Al Horford is questionable for the Celtics, but he could suit up, while Danilo Galinari remains a long-term absentee with an ACL injury. The 76ers have a clean bill of health.
