NFL 2022 schedule: Rams host Bills in big season kick-off, Wilson returns to Seattle

Week One of the new NFL season will start with a stellar match-up between the Bills and Rams in LA, and end with Russell Wilson's return to his former team in Seattle.

The Los Angeles Rams will open up the new 2022 NFL Season against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday September 8, with the new season set to start with a bang with some mouth-watering early match-ups.

As is tradition, the Super Bowl champions begin the defence of the Lombardi Trophy with a home game on the Thursday before the first NFL Sunday of the season.

Matthew Stafford and the Rams will host the Bills at SoFi Stadium, where they became the second team in a row to win the Super Bowl in their home stadium - beating the Cincinnati Bengals in February.

The Bills are one of the Super Bowl favourites for this year after winning back-to-back AFC East titles and in quarterback Josh Allen have one of the stars of the league.
With both teams among the early favourites for the Super Bowl next February, many have already noted that this could well be the first and last game of the new season.
It promises to be an explosive start to the season, as the first Sunday Night Football primetime game on the opening weekend sees Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on America's Team the Dallas Cowboys.

Week One will start and finish with a bang, as the first Monday Night Football of the season sees a huge game up in Seattle as the Seahawks welcome back QB Russell Wilson and his new Denver Broncos team.

Big returns in opening week games

The Buffalo Bills splashed out over $150million to sign Von Miller this offseason, just months after he had helped the Rams to win Super Bowl LVI against the Bengals.
It was a second Super Bowl for Miller, who was MVP when the Denver Broncos won the big game, and he'll have a great chance playing for another top tier squad.

While watching Miller chase down his former QB Matthew Stafford will be the starting highlight, the closing game of Week One is one of the most eagerly-anticipated returns in recent memory.

Russell Wilson spent a decade as Seattle Seahawks QB, winning one of his two Super Bowl appearances, and as soon as he moved to Denver in a blockbuster trade all eyes switched to the fixture list.

With the Broncos set to visit Seattle it was always going to be must-watch TV, and the NFL will not make fans wait for that as the subject of the first Monday night game of the season.

Full Week One schedule for the 2022 NFL season

There's plenty to look forward to in just the opening week of the season, with Brady's Buccaneers facing Dak Prescott's Cowboys for the second year running in Week One.

The two teams kicked-off the season last year after Brady won his seventh Super Bowl in February 2021, and it was a thriller.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals kick-off at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers visit Minnesota in their season opener and Patrick Mahomes takes his Chiefs to Arizona to play the Cardinals.
