West Ham vs Tottenham tips and predictions: Goals to rain down on London Stadium in derby classic

European contenders clash at the London Stadium this Tuesday night as West Ham welcome Tottenham for a tasty derby in the capital (2015 BST).

They say everything is possible in football. While that is true, it’s rarely that a team loses a match when winning 3-1 with 13 minutes remaining.

Then again, we are talking about West Ham. Even the most die-hard supporters must have known things were too good to be true as the Irons scored their third goal away at St James’ Park at the weekend.

Newcastle’s remarkable 4-3 win condemned West Ham to becoming the first Premier League team since 2013 to lead by two goals as late as the 77th minute and lose the match.

Question is, can the Irons bounce back against a very inconsistent Spurs side?

Ange Postecoglou’s men have really struggled to keep it tight at the back. In their last 14 games, Tottenham have kept just two clean sheets, conceding 21 times.

Their away form is particularly concerning. Spurs have won just one of their last five Premier League matches on the road – losing 3-0 at Fulham on their most recent travels.

West Ham have the tools to score goals – a high volume of goals at that. Over the last couple of months alone, they hit Newcastle for three, Freiburg for five, Burnley for two, Everton for three and Brentford for four.

What’s more, the London Stadium has become somewhat of a stronghold for David Moyes and his men.

The Irons have lost one of their last 15 games at the stadium – the dreaded 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal.

With all that in mind, we’re backing the hosts to bag three important points in their pursuit of European football.

Sloppy Spurs should get at least one goal, as the Irons are leaky, but we’re backing West Ham to get a few more in what should be a high-scoring affair.

The Irons to win 3-2 in the correct score market is a tad ambitious, but with the amount of goals these two teams have seen, it’s worth a punt.

Team news

West Ham will be without the suspended Edson Alvarez for Tuesday’s fixture. There are also doubts over Alphonse Areola.

Tottenham will be missing Fraser Forster, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon.
