Scotland vs Norway tips and predictions: Tartan Army to sign off with narrow win

There’s little more than pride on the line as Scotland play host to Norway at Hampden Park on Sunday evening.

Scotland’s stunning comeback in Oslo accounts for the six-point gap between these sides but the visitors may still be targeting a measure of revenge.

Scotland vs Norway team news

Scotland came through Thursday’s trip to Georgia unscathed, but tired legs may force Steve Clarke to rotate.

Lawrence Shankland’s late goal may have earned him a start while Liam Cooper and Stuart Armstrong are among the candidates to feature.

Motherwell’s Liam Kelly may be given his first opportunity to impress in a competitive game.

Visitors Norway are without the creative genius of Martin Odegaard and target forward Martin Sorloth, but Erling Haaland poses a major threat.

Suggested bets

Scotland to win

Under 2.5 goals

Key stats

- In the final three minutes, Scotland scored twice to beat Norway 2-1 in Oslo.
- Scotland have qualified for back-to-back Euros for the first time since 1996.
- Norway haven’t beaten a team above them in the FIFA rankings since 2015.
- Erling Haaland has scored six goals in Euro 2024 Qualifiers.
- Scott McTominay has scored seven goals in Euro 2024 Qualifiers.

Scotland vs Norway verdict

We aren’t expecting this to be a classic. Scotland have already wrapped up qualification and Norway haven’t impressed at any point during this campaign.

The least Steve Clark’s men can do is pick up three points and hope by way of some miracle that Spain slip up against Georgia.

The main betting angle on offer is possibly Norway’s desire to avenge the defeat in Oslo, but you’d have to ask them if they really care about this game.

Scotland may still be feeling the effects of their 2-2 draw in Georgia so they may well settle for keeping their shape and challenging Norway to find a way through.

Stale Solbakken’s side have such a poor record against sides above them in the ranking - which Scotland are - and they haven’t been totally convincing against the group’s minnows.

We think the hosts can frustrate Norway while creating enough opportunities at the other end to pinch all three points.
