PSG vs Newcastle tips and predictions: Nothing romantic about Toon’s trip to Paris

Newcastle United will be up against it at Parc des Princes as they look to complete an unlikely Champions League double over PSG.

Newcastle United face a simple yet complicated scenario. If they can beat PSG and AC Milan, then they’ll leapfrog both and qualify with 10 points.

The Toon’s emphatic 4-1 win over the Parisians at St James’ Park was a historic moment but beating Kylian Mbappe and co at Parc des Princes would top it.

Newcastle’s task will be harder by a long list of absentees but Eddie Howe can at least count on the services of Alexander Isak.

The Swedish striker has scored seven in nine in the Premier League and will need to be at his clinical best on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, victory for PSG would eliminate the Premier League side with a game to spare and could also hand Borussia Dortmund a more straightforward passage.

Milan Skriniar’s strike in the San Siro wasn’t enough to prevent Luis Enrique’s side from falling to a 2-1 defeat to blow the group wide open.

While the French side have lost six of eight Champions League fixtures against English sides, they’ve also beaten the likes of Real Madrid and Man City in recent seasons.

Monaco became the first side to score past Gianluigi Donnarumma since September 15th at the weekend, but they put them to the sword by way of five different scorers.

It’s going to be tough to strike a perfect balance between defence and attack and the game could quickly get away from the visitors if they don’t.

Team news

Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Elliot Anderson, Jacob Murphy, Matt Targett, Joe Willock and Javier Manquillo are ruled out due to injury.

Sandro Tonali is serving a suspension for illicit betting activity while Sean Longstaff and Emil Krafth are also a doubt.

Keylor Navas, Nuno Mendes, Sergio Rico, Marquinhos and Warren Zaire-Emery are ruled out for the hosts.
