Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona tips and predictions: Nothing to separate old foes

The much-anticipated clash between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona will take place on Sunday night at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Once a duel for the first place in the league table, both teams are suffering this season and sit third and fourth in La Liga.
The Catalans have rediscovered their form in recent weeks and started to at least hope to
finish second, while Atletico suffered a dip in their form recently and are in danger of losing fourth place.
Atletico Madrid reached the Champions League quarterfinals this week as Diego Simeone’s team managed to overturn the first-leg deficit, winning 2-1 before sealing the deal on penalties.
Despite that, they’re going through a difficult moment. They have won three of 10 since the beginning of February and have been eliminated from the Copa del Rey.
Their home ground represents a huge advantage for Simeone’s team. Atleti have won 19 of 21 games played in front of their fans in all competitions.
Barcelona also secured safe passage to the Champions League quarterfinals this week as the Catalans managed a 3-1 win against Napoli.
The win extended Barca’s undefeated streak to nine games and they’re also unbeaten in seven in La Liga.
Xavi’s team returned to winning ways in the previous round when they managed a win at home against Mallorca.
A rivalry with over 100 years of history, Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona has been played 240 times officially. The Catalans lead the way with 121 wins, while Atletico have 79 wins and 40 games ended as a draw.
It’s also worth noting they’ve won their last four meetings with the hosts. In the reverse fixture earlier this season, Joao Felix struck to give Barca a 1-0 win.
