Alaves vs Real Madrid tips and predictions: Bellingham to spearhead crucial win for Los Blancos

Real Madrid will look to go top of La Liga on Thursday night when they face Alaves at Estadio Mendizorrotza in Vitoria-Gasteiz (2030 GMT).

Alaves have had a respectable season this far, but they’re slipping towards the relegation battle. The Basque club were beaten by league leaders Girona in the previous round.

On the other hand, Real Madrid’s year has been a mix of highs and lows. Los Blancos are two points behind Girona and looking to finish the year on top.

Newly promoted Alaves were thoroughly outclassed in the 3-0 defeat against Girona. They failed to create any chances of note and could have conceded more.

After the first 17 rounds of the season, Alaves sit in 13th place with 16 points. However, they are only three points ahead of Celta Vigo, who currently occupy the first relegation spot.

In their quest to catch Girona, the visitors have put together an impressive unbeaten run, with their last defeat coming over two months ago in September against Atletico Madrid.

In their previous match, Carlo Ancelotti’s team defeated Villareal 4-1. Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz and Luka Modric were on target.

Bellingham also found the net in Real’s previous away game, a 1-1 draw with Betis, making him the club’s top scorer with 13 goals.

The last meetings between the sides took place in the 2021/22 season when Los Blancos won 3-0 at home and 4-1 in Vitoria-Gazteiz.

There have been over 2.5 goals in six of Real’s last seven victories and in five of those, they scored three or more themselves. We expect Alaves to be outclassed.

Key stats

- Alaves' last victory over Real Madrid came in 2018 when they won 1-0 at home
