  • ‘Completely Destroyed’ Paul Pogba Urged To End Career If Juventus Man Is Handed Long Term Doping Ban

‘Completely destroyed’ Paul Pogba urged to end career if Juventus man is handed long-term doping ban

Former Monaco, Arsenal and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged Paul Pogba to hang up his boots should he face a lengthy ban for doping.

Pogba has been handed with a precautionary suspension by the Anti-Doping Tribunal in Italy following a positive test for testosterone.

The Juventus midfielder is currently training by himself in Turin as he awaits the results of counter-analysis which are expected to arrive on October 5.

The 30-year-old is training at the former home of Cristiano Ronaldo according to a report by Gazzetta dello Sport.

At the villa, Pogba is said to have access to a swimming pool, a gym and an outdoor football pitch.

October’s adverse finding could have a major impact on Pogba’s future considering the World Cup winner could face a ban of up to four years if found guilty.

Petit, speaking with Betway and quotes by Goal, has urged the France international to call time on his career should the worst possible outcome come to fruition.

"Paul Pogba should definitely retire if he is given a four-year ban,” he said.

“When you are suspended for that long, you can't even come to the training ground. That leaves you going to the gym or the park with no teammates, no balls, nothing. Four years for a 30-year-old player is a long time.

"His time at Manchester United didn't end well, and in France, we think he's been a disaster since then.

“Forget football, forget money, it's a disaster for him. He's completely destroyed. He's nothing like the Pogba we used to know. There's no way he'll be back in high-level football."

Pogba’s return to Juventus has been plagued by injuries with the 30-year-old making just eight league appearances across two seasons.

The Frenchman arrived in Turin for his second spell back in the summer of 2022 after leaving Manchester United.

Pogba made 226 appearances and scored 39 goals across his six-year spell at Old Trafford.
