Hector’s choice doubt for Kempton

The eight-year-old has been in fine form this season after winning at Aintree in October before just coming in third behind Tatenen and imsigningtheblues in the BetVictor.com Handicap Chase at Ascot last month.
Lee had been lining him up for a ride at Kempton on February 25, where he was a 16/1 joint fifth favourite for Racing Plus Chase.
However, the Herefordshire-based trainer has revealed he may not make in time, with the Festival Chase at Cheltenham earmarked as a possible alternative.
“I’m just not sure if he’ll be ready in time for Kempton,” said Lee.
“He struck into himself when he ran last time at Ascot and it just depends if it comes right in time. It’s getting better every day but it will be tight.
“He’s been in great form and his last run has always been his best this season. I think he’s a bit like me, he’s maturing late in life!”
