Russia’s Formula One debut will take place in November 2014, according to the mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov
Russia is scheduled to join the Formula One circus in 2014 with the Black Sea resort of Sochi playing host to the grand prix.
It is costing around $200 million to build the venue.
There were, however, serious reports of construction delays last year although Pakhomov insists everything is now progressing on schedule.
“It will be held in November, after the Olympics,” Pakhomov told Reuters. “The circuit’s construction is being closely monitored by the regional government. Everything is going according to plan.
“If we had any problems we would have asked for help from other regions.”
