Hamilton: I feel numb

2012-11-25 09:06:18

Lewis Hamilton finished his McLaren career on low on Sunday as he crashed out of the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix

Hamilton: I feel numb

Having started in pole position, he was then involved in a thrilling few exchanges for the lead with team-mate Jenson Button and Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg.

However, his race and season came to a crashing halt on lap 55 after Hulkenberg’s car slid into the side of MP4-27 following an overtaking move.

It was a disappointing end for Hamilton, who will be leaving the Woking squad for Mercedes next year.

“A big congratulations to Jenson Button (who won the race) and Sebastian Vettel (who won the 2012 World Championship),” he said.

“They did a fantastic job. I feel okay. I am happy for the team that we got a win and feeling good for the future.

“I feel numb, a little bit like I did in 2007, it is mixed emotions at the moment. Sad that we were leading and I didn’t get to see through the race and also that I am leaving. But I am excited for the future and hopefully I will have a little bit of luck at some stage.”

Hamilton was also upset with Hulkenberg following their collision.

“It was a little bit unfortunate,” he said. “The dude didn’t even say sorry. So that says a lot.

“That’s what happens when you race with the less experienced. I feel OK, and I feel happy for the team to get the win.”
