Phillips: enthused by FA Cup

Blackpool striker Kevin Phillips is bullish ahead of his side’s FA Cup Sixth Round trip to Everton on Saturday.
The 38-year-old is confident that the Seasiders can cause an upset at Goodison Park, especially if he can reproduce his goal-scoring heroics of 11 seasons ago, when in 2001 he scored both Sunderland’s goals in the 2-2 draw against the Toffees on the final day of the season.
“People say a bit of the magic of the FA Cup has gone because the league means so much and perhaps I would agree with that in a way,” said Phillips.
“But once you get later on in the competition and you can sniff an appearance at Wembley, then you start to get that buzz back again.
“It would be great to go to Goodison and get some kind of result; I certainly think we can do that. It will be a nice pitch - you can see how we like to play on a nice surface.
“I’m looking forward to it, it will be a tough game but it’s a chance for myself if I’m involved and it’ll be interesting to see how some of the other lads get on against better opposition.”
