Two second-half strikes saw the points shared in a 1-1 draw between Fulham and West Brom on Roy Hodgson’s return to his former club.
The first half was something of a battle between two hardworking sides. Fulham enjoyed the majority of possession but lacked a real cutting edge and neither goalkeeper was really tested.
Fulham’s Clint Dempsey and Damien Duff were limited to long-range efforts that failed to find the target, while at the other end Marc-Antoine Fortune looked lively and did force David Stockdale into a diving save.
Dempsey thought he’d given Fulham the lead in the 11th minute but was rightly given offside after putting the ball into the back of the net from six yards, and that was the closest either side came in a lacklustre first period.
The second half was an improvement with both sides stepping up their game. Stockdale made a great save from Fortune and Fulham had several half-chances before finally breaking the deadlock in the 69th minute.
Bryan Ruiz made a slide rule pass to Dempsey, who turned and shot beyond Ben Foster from 12 yards out.
West Brom didn’t lie down however and forced a number of corners before substitute Somen Tchoyi equalised with eight minutes to go, just five minutes after coming on to the pitch. James Morrison flicked on Jonas Olsson’s pass and Tchoyi slotted home from eight yards.
The result leaves Fulham in 13th place in the table while West Brom sit in 15th, but the Baggies have now lost just one of their last five league away matches.
