Routledge: On target

Wayne Routledge scored his first ever Premier League goal as Swansea clinched their first away win with a 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on Monday.
Villa should have been up for the game after their memorable victory at Chelsea two days ago, but they never got started as the Swans finally recorded their first away win in the Premier League.
Things looked bad for the hosts from just the fourth minute when Stephen Warnock, given a torrid afternoon by Nathan Dyer, played a poor back pass and Dyer latched onto it before his deflected shot beat Brad Guzan, cannoning in off Richard Dunne.
Michel Vorm, who had a quiet afternoon, was finally forced into action by James Collins’ header which the keeper did well to turn round the post just moments before the break.
Just two minutes after the break, Swansea doubled their lead as Routledge played in Danny Graham and when the striker’s shot came back off the post it was Routledge who tucked it into the back of the net.
It was the former Villa man’s first ever Premier League goal and it really put the game beyond doubt.
The Villans huffed and puffed but still could not force Vorm into further action and the boos rang out at the final whistle for manager Alex McLeish as the victory over the Blues was quickly forgotten.
