Arsenal v Blackburn Rovers

2012-02-03 02:13:44

Arsenal won’t accept anything less than all three points when they host Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners have dropped to seventh position in the Premier League standings after a goalless draw against Bolton in midweek and are five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Rovers are in the relegation zone, in 18th position, but could climb as high as 16th should they surprise Arsene Wenger’s side.

In team news, Arsenal have no new injury concerns, but Wenger may decide to mix things up after the poor performance against the Trotters.

Marouane Chamakh is back in contention after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, while Abou Diaby, Andre Santos, Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs remain on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, Steve Kean has opted to exclude captain Christopher Samba. The manager feels the centre-back is not in the right frame of mind to play, after his transfer request was turned down.

Top scorer Ayegbeni Yakubu will serve the last match of his suspension and David Goodwillie (flu) could sit out again, but new signings Bradley Orr and Marcus Olsson are ready to make their debuts.
