England have leapfrogged Pakistan from sixth to fifth in the latest ICC one-day rankings.
Alastair Cook’s men achieved a four-nil series whitewash over the Pakistanis and were rewarded with five ranking points for their efforts. This sees England move to 111 points while Pakistan drop down to 104. England are now two points behind fourth-placed Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka have moved up to 113 as a result of their win over India earlier in the week. Because of the defeat, second-placed India are now on 116 points, tied with South Africa with only decimal points keeping them ahead.
Despite dropping one point to 129, Australia look set to remain on top of the one-day standings come April 1 when the number one side is awarded US$175 000. Should Michael Clarke’s men achieve the feat, it will be the third consecutive year in which they have done so.
